Tennis clinics for children ages 7 to 12 are being offered weekly in February on Hilton Head Island, and March through April 8 in Bluffton.
The February clinics will be held Saturdays from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Chaplin Park Tennis Courts on Hilton Head, and Sundays, March 4 through April 8, at Ulmer Road Tennis Courts in Bluffton.
The instructional tennis clinics are offered by Public Tennis Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to introducing the game of tennis to all ages and abilities.
Clinics are taught by local USPTR certified tennis pros, including Wayne Lilley and Royce Sylvan, and trained volunteers.
Beginners start with smaller racquets and low compression tennis balls.
The clinics are open to all skill levels. More experienced players will be challenged with drills and games, while all players will receive a combination of technique instruction and fun game play to exercise skills.
The Hilton Head clinics in February are $45 for the full session. Sign up at islandreccenter.org and select "register now" under the logo.
Bluffton clinics are $40, with sign up at www.bcpals.com.
Scholarships are available for both series of clinics.
Players should bring their own racquets if they have them. All should wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.
