With this feature, we seek to capture a glimpse of what your neighbors have to say about a variety of topics, issues, events - and just plain fun questions.
You might find us anywhere around town with a camera and note pad, asking simple questions and looking for thoughtful answers. If we find you, we hope you will want to participate.
At the staging area for the Bluffton Christmas Parade, we found a float loaded with students from Hilton Head Island High School, who are preparing for their "Fa-la-la-Palooza" to be held from 10 am. to 1 p.m. at Seahawk Cultural Center. (It's open to the public!) We asked: "What is the oddest or most interesting gift you've ever received or given?"
Kimberly Guinn, Hilton Head Island: "My brother-in-law and sister gave me a whale shark diving experience at the Atlanta Aquarium. It was fun!"
Aaron Cordozo, Hilton Head Island: "I gave someone a box of macaroni. And I once received a fedora."
Annagray Ashton, Hilton Head Island: "I gave my friend a T-shirt with a picture of my face on it - and it was an ugly picture."
Haleigh Gartner, Hilton Head Island: "I once got glasses made of rubber tubing that was a straw. They go around your eyeballs - and you can still drink from it."
Connor Gutierrez, Hilton Head Island: "I gave my brother a comically large bag of cheese balls. We enjoyed them for about a year."
