A new exhibition featuring Lowcountry landscapes will open June 1 at the Society of Bluffton Artists gallery, highlighting the work of painter Carol Dulude.

The exhibit, titled “Moments of Stillness,” will run through June 27 at the organization’s gallery on Church Street in Old Town Bluffton. An opening reception is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. June 4, where visitors can meet the artist and view the collection.

Dulude, an acrylic painter based in the Lowcountry, is known for landscapes that reflect the region’s coastal environment. Her work draws on influences from her early life in Canada and time spent in Massachusetts, as well as her current surroundings in the Southeast.

According to the artist, her paintings are intended to evoke calm and reflection.

“My acrylic landscape paintings focus on creating calm, quiet spaces that invite reflection and stillness,” Dulude said. “Using subtle color palettes and soft transitions, I aim to capture the peaceful atmosphere found in natural environments.”

Dulude began painting in retirement and describes her work as both a creative pursuit and a contemplative practice. Her compositions often feature open horizons, muted tones and gradual shifts in light, reflecting the interplay of water and sky common in the Lowcountry.

“Acrylic allows me to build gentle layers that suggest light, distance and mood,” she said. “Through these landscapes, I hope viewers can pause and experience a moment of tranquility.”

The exhibition continues the mission of the Society of Bluffton Artists, which showcases regional artists and promotes visual arts through exhibits and community programs.

The gallery, located at 7 Church St., recently moved to a new space in Old Town Bluffton. Organizers say the updated location is intended to provide a refreshed setting for both artists and visitors.

The Society of Bluffton Artists is a nonprofit organization that offers exhibitions, classes and events aimed at supporting artists and expanding access to the arts in the Lowcountry.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
