Bluffton event to provide free school supplies to educators

Lowcountry Community Church is preparing to host its third annual School Staff Appreciation Brunch on Aug. 1, with organizers expecting as many as 350 teachers, administrators and school employees from across the Lowcountry.

The free event will be held at the church’s campus at 801 Buckwalter Parkway, across from Bluffton High School.

In partnership with Coastal Shores Landscaping, organizers plan to provide each attendee with a box of school supplies donated by members of the Bluffton community. Participants will also receive breakfast and hear a brief message of encouragement.

The event began in 2023 with 75 attendees and has grown steadily. According to the church, more than 250 educators attended last year’s brunch.

“This brunch is our way of saying: your work matters, your sacrifice doesn’t go unnoticed, and you have a whole community standing behind you,” said Liz Lucarini, outreach director at Lowcountry Community Church.

Lucarini said teachers often invest significant amounts of their own time, energy and personal funds because they believe in their students.

Organizers are encouraging school staff to register by June 20 to assist with planning for supplies and event logistics. Registration is free and open to teachers, administrators and school staff throughout the Lowcountry.

The School Staff Appreciation Brunch is part of the church’s annual outreach efforts, which also include school supply drives and community projects.
