Celebrating the old and the new

La Petite Gallerie celebrates the old and the new.

The little art gallery with the red awning in downtown Bluffton has been home to many talented artists in its 11-year history. This summer, it is featuring two of them.

Among them is Bill Winn, an owner-artist who joined La Petite Gallerie in its early days. Bill is skilled in all media, with watercolor and acrylic among his current favorites. He creates lifelike still lifes and moody landscapes, figure drawings and shorebirds. He can and does paint just about anything. Bill draws on his career as a medical illustrator and a natural eye for capturing the beauty around him. In addition to enjoying his paintings, visitors to the gallery appreciate Bill’s wisdom, humor and insights into what makes great art. He is a master of both art and conversation.

The gallery also welcomes its newest owner-artist, Nancy Patrick Carney. Nancy creates imaginative art using paint and paper. Her bright colors, coastal themes and feminine figures are instantly recognizable. She often incorporates hand-painted papers, printed music and words into her work, creating pieces that are unique and cheerful. With a background in commercial art and illustration, Nancy brings her own perspective to Lowcountry art.

This summer, La Petite Gallerie is celebrating both artists. Visitors can also see the work of the gallery’s five other owner-artists, along with pottery, jewelry, garden art and more. There is something for everyone in the gallery and garden.
