Hilton Head Fire Rescue rolls out new mobile app

Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue has launched a new mobile app, named Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue, is aimed at improving how residents and visitors receive emergency information and community updates.

The app, now available through the Apple App Store and Google Play, will replace the department’s use of PulsePoint, a platform that has provided real-time emergency notifications in recent years. Fire Rescue officials said PulsePoint services for the department will end May 13, 2026.

The new app will continue to offer features familiar to PulsePoint users, including active call information and real-time alerts for select incident types. Officials said the platform also expands access to department news, safety programs and community resources.

“This app is about meeting our community where they are and making information more accessible than ever,” said Fire Chief Chris Blankenship. “We’re proud to offer a platform that not only keeps residents informed in real time but also strengthens our connection beyond emergency response.”

Fire Rescue officials said the move reflects a broader effort to modernize communication tools and provide more centralized access to information. By combining alerts with educational resources and department updates, the app is intended to serve as a single source for both emergency and non-emergency information.

The transition comes as many public safety agencies expand their use of mobile platforms to reach communities more directly. Officials said the new app will allow the department to tailor notifications and provide timely updates during incidents, severe weather and other situations affecting public safety.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to download the app and enable notifications to stay informed about incidents and community updates.

The department said the change will not affect its emergency response operations but will improve how information is shared with the public.

More information about the app and its features is available through Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue’s official communication channels.
