Hilton Head Island’s Isha Manchala made history last month when she won the Wimbledon Girls’ 14-and-Under Singles Championship.

According to Tennis Europe, Manchala is the first American to win the girls’ 14-and-under title since the event was introduced in 2022.

Manchala, 13, defeated Ukraine’s Mariia Kocherzhenko 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 in the championship match at the All England Club in London. The victory capped a tournament in which she advanced through round-robin play before winning her semifinal to reach the final.

Manchala trains at Van Der Meer Tennis Academy on Hilton Head Island. In a social media post following the victory, the academy congratulated Manchala and said she entered Wimbledon as the No. 1-rated girls’ under-14 player in the world according to Universal Tennis Rating.

The Wimbledon championship is the latest milestone in Manchala’s standout 2026 season. Earlier this year, she earned a spot on the U.S. team for the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals after winning the USTA National Clay Court Championships.

The ITF World Junior Tennis Competition is an international team event for players ages 14 and under. National teams qualify through regional competitions, with the top 16 girls’ and 16 boys’ teams advancing to the finals. This year’s tournament is scheduled for Aug. 3-8 in Prostejov, Czechia.

According to Van Der Meer Tennis Academy, Manchala is also scheduled to make her professional debut at the Dennis Van der Meer Shipyard Cup Women’s Pro Circuit $15,000 tournament, set for Oct. 26-Nov. 1 at the Van Der Meer Shipyard Racquet Club.
