Technical College of the Lowcountry has appointed Dr. Laurie A. Boeding as its next president, with her tenure set to begin July 1.
Boeding comes to the role from Trident Technical College in Charleston, where she serves as vice president for academic affairs. The college said she brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education and has focused on expanding student access, strengthening workforce pathways and improving student outcomes.
At Trident Technical College, Boeding has led efforts to align academic programs with regional labor market needs, streamline curricula and expand stackable credential opportunities, according to the announcement. She also has supported online learning initiatives and data-driven approaches aimed at student success.
“I am honored to join the Technical College of the Lowcountry and serve the students, faculty, staff, and communities of Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, and Colleton counties,” Boeding said in a statement.
“TCL has a strong reputation for student success, workforce development, and community partnership. I look forward to building on that foundation, listening to the community, and working together to expand opportunities that strengthen lives, businesses, and the region’s economy,” she said.
Boeding holds a doctorate in higher education administration, a master’s degree in information systems management and a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
She is a current Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow, a leadership development program for community college presidents focused on student success.
Before becoming chief academic officer at Trident Technical College, Boeding held a series of academic leadership positions, including campus dean, academic dean, associate dean, department chair and faculty member. The college said she also has professional experience as a Department of Defense contractor and in federal civil service.
Boeding is active in several educational and economic development organizations. She serves on the Board of Directors and Associate Degree Board of Commissioners for the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs and is involved with the American Technical Education Association and the Charleston Regional Development Alliance’s Economic Leadership Council. She also previously served on the Lowcountry STEM Collaborative board.
TCL Area Commission Chair Randy Dolyniuk said Boeding’s experience and leadership made her the right choice to guide the institution.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Boeding as TCL’s next president,” Dolyniuk said in a statement. “Her experience, leadership, and commitment to student success make her the right person to build on the college’s momentum and strengthen TCL’s impact throughout the Lowcountry.”
Boeding will succeed Dr. Richard Gough and become the fourth president in the college’s history.
Technical College of the Lowcountry is a two-year public institution serving Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties. The college offers associate degrees, diplomas and certificates in career and technical fields, along with university transfer programs.
